Most of you know Camille was born with Cerebral Palsy. She is now 5 yrs old and can not walk, sit, talk, eat or drink on her own but she can sure ski fast in her sit ski! This is her 2nd season with Disabled Sports this year and she has been skiing at Squaw Valley, CA. She loves skiing Mountain Run because it is the longest run and she prefers to take as many jumps as possible! This program has provided Camille with the experience of what all other kids her age like to do....go fast on skis! Disabled Sports USA has enabled Camille to do this with all the great equipment and awesome trained instructors! Together we are taking on the Ability Challenge to help raise money for Disabled Sports USA.
Founded in 1967, Disabled Sports USA Far West is dedicated to innovative programs that provide an environment with positive therapeutic and psychological outcomes. Individuals are empowered to reach their full potential. Our programs allow individuals of all abilities to discover their own strengths and interests. With emphasis on safety, fun and learning, Disabled Sports encourages participation by individuals of all ages and abilities, including those with orthopedic, spinal cord, neuromuscular, visual and hearing impairments. Included, too, are those with cognitive and developmental disabilities.
The Ability Challenge is a season long fundraiser (like a skiathon or walkathon) that culminates in an end of the season on hill celebration attended by everyone who joins our fundraising efforts by forming a team or by participating individually. The goal for 2013 is $250,000 in order to improve snow sports programming for the years to come. We would appreciate a donation in any amount in honor of Camille to help reach our goal. We will be skiing for the first time as a family at the Ability Challenge on April 5th at Squaw Valley. We welcome anyone to join us for the challenge and festivities!
