I believe each and every one of us has an opportunity to make a difference in the world. Not all actions are grand actions-big ones that make the headlines. Most opportunities are smaller yet no less meaningful. I recently learned about Be Change runners and the difference they make in the lives of children at Oak Ridge Elementary in Oak Park, a community in Sacramento, California. The children at Oak Ridge are just like you and me, just like our children, but many face challenges that you and I do not. When I learned these kids go home for the weekend wondering if they will have food to eat I knew I had to do what I could to help. So I signed on to be a runner in the California International Marathon (CIM) to raise money for weekend food bags for Oak Ridge Elementary children and their families.
I'm not an athlete. Truth be told, I don't really like to sweat but I can walk. I can make a difference and so can you. Since August, I have trained to participate in the CIM-up at 4am to walk and prepare. I will be walking the 13 mile half marathon. I am raising money to help these kids so they will not have to worry about their next meal. All money I raise goes towards food and services for the Oak Ridge Elementary kids.
Please consider a donation to this effort-no amount too small BUT big is nice too. Watch the videos on this page, I think you'll agree, we can make a difference.
Every Bit Helps!
Thanks.
