Playa Zancudo Dock Project
Along the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, near the old banana port of Golfito, there lies a long sandy beach that stretches for 6 miles along the warm blue waters of the Golfito Dulce. As far as the eye can see, the sparkling waters are fringed by coconut palms and almond trees...This remote and un-touristyregion is one of the last areas of Costa Rica to be discovered by foreign travelers -- it features some of the most beautiful and untouched areas of the country. Wildlife and sea life abound in this spectacular corner of Costa Rica, Playa Zancudo.
The village of Playa Zancudo is in desperate need of a community dockwhere the fledging local sport fishing charters, taxi boats and tour operators can dock their boats to take tourists fishing, go on tours and to get to Golfito across the bay, Golfito is where most of the Playa Zancudo residents do their shopping, and tourists connect with flights to San Jose. The fastest way to get to the Golfito Hospital is by boat. The most common way to travel to Golfito the nearest town is by boat.
There is a old private dock and caretakers house that is to unsafe to use and needs repairs to bring it back up to usable standards The dock would be a ideal solution for the villages problem. The caretaker’s house needs a roof, windows and doors to bring it back to life and livable again and the dock needs major repairs and new floats.
The towns people of Playa Zancudo are reaching out for help and we at Fishbuilt.org are ready to head down with a volunteer team of contractors, we need your help with raising the funds for this project, our goal is $ 25,000, and any amount helps to reach our goal
