I was diagnosed in February this year after several years of trying to find out what was bothering me. Multiple myeloma is a little-known, devastating cancer of the bone marrow for which there is no known cure. Multiple myeloma affects approximately 75,000 to 100,000 people in the United States, and with more than 15,000 new cases diagnosed each year, is one of the fastest-growing cancers in the Western world. Despite its high numbers and devastating effects, the public — both patients and physicians — remains largely unaware of myeloma. As a result, patients can go mis- or undiagnosed for years.
I have more information on my personal blog: http://heddleandhook.blogspot.com/search/label/MULTIPLE%20MYELOMA
or my Caring Bridge site; www.caringbridge.org/visit/judysmyelomajourney
On June 28th we will come together for the 3rd Annual MoveMMORE Seattle run/walk. It is a fun low key event a 1 mile walk or a 5k run. Children and spectators welcome.
You can join my team -- "ReMission MM Possible" on this site: https://mmore.webconnex.com/MoveMMORESeattle15# It will ask you the Team Captain: "Judy Bracik" and the password is "swedish"
The goal for MoveMMORE Seattle is to donate $75,000 to myeloma research from this race. Help us reach that goal by donating and or signing up for the the run/walk event. Thanks to MoveMMORE’s generous sponsors, 100% of all fundraising efforts including the registration will be donated directly to multiple myeloma cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. And specific research is sorely needed!!
