Hi, and thank you for checking out my donation page to help a student at Oak Ridge Elementary School.
Everybody worries about the future, but have you ever considered that children are the future? And not just our own children - how about the ones on the other side of town? Like any kid, they need an education and good health to become the best they can be. Because life isn't a sprint; it's a marathon. It's a long race, and sometimes you need someone to help you prepare and cheer you on.
Kids at an inner-city school here in Sacramento need that kind of help. They need school supplies and proper nutrition to get a good start in life so they don't give up and drop out after a few miles. That's why I've joined with a group of runners under the banner of "Be Change" to use the occasion of this year's California International Marathon to raise money for the kids at Oak Ridge Elementary School. You can learn more about some of what the money goes for by viewing the videos on this page.
Please join me in raising the $1,000 that it will take to provide basic care for one student at the school. While I'm training for and running the marathon (December 4th, 2011), you can encourage me and an Oak Ridge Elementary School student by donating one or two dollars for each mile of the race; that pencils out to a total of $26 or $52. If you can afford more, that would be great, but any amount will be a great help and encouragement to a child at the school.
So please donate today. Don't put it off ("If you save up all your tomorrows, all you end up with is a pile of yesterdays" - Lewis Carroll). I assure you, it'll be an "eat dessert first" kind of experience; your heart will be enriched by giving an early Christmas gift to a worthwhile cause.
Thank you for making a positive impact on our future - by "being change" in the life of a child!!
