Fundraise. Document. Share.

I am currently in India working with Ashray, South Vihar Welfare Society. My time here so far has been amazing and inspiring. I am hoping to raise the complete funds and meet my goal before returning home, so I wanted to update this and share some stories on a daily basis. 

Upon arriving at the organization headquarters, I heard stories of the trafficked women and children in East India and watched a short movie on the organization's mission.

I heard a story of a 6 year old boy kidnapped on his way to school, drugged, sold and sent away to work in a chemical plant. The boy was then sent to have his organs removed and sold. When his kidney was not healthy enough for transplant, they threw him out. They threw out a boy - a human being - like he was trash. He was found in the street in horrible condition so close to death. The stitching from his operation was not properly sown back together and his skin was infected and rotting. Many surrounding hospitals turned down aid because of the smell until one doctor in Ranchi, the city I am in now. After a 5 hour operation he is alive and walking. The beauty of the story is that there is an organization like this one that strives to save women and children that have been trafficked. It is thier only mission and they will stop at nothing. Another truth to the story is that there are still so many children that still need saving. 

I have never felt more certain that I am in the right place. I am needed. I can really help.
