Did you know that Liberia was a country founded by freed American slaves? Liberia was established in 1822. In 1847, the settlers formalized their settlement as the Republic of Liberia, establishing a government modeled on that of the United States and naming its capital city Monrovia after James Monroe, the 5th President of the United States and a prominent supporter of the Colony.
We have a link to their past. We want to have a seed in their future. The people of Liberia are suffering. The devastating outbreak of Ebola in West Africa is finally being brought under control due to massive medical efforts. With the last known case of Ebola in March, ongoing support with the underlying food need is critical.
Because this need is so critical, Kids Around the World has pledged $5,000 in matching funds to go towards raising money in the Stoughton Area. Organizational donations of at least $500 will be matched by Kids Around the World, from this $5,000 matching Fund.
Today we have 9 partners in the Stoughton and Dane County Area, each coming into this project at a level and way that works best for their organization.

Save the Date! Join us for Love Liberia Night at Culver’s of Stoughton on August 26, from 4pm-8pm! 10% of the proceeds earned will go to Love Liberia! Come hungry and enjoy the opportunity we have of coming around this need. This is a great event to invite friends and family to.
We want to provide as many meals as possible to help with this crisis. One meal costs 25 cents. One box of food costs $54 (which is 216 meals). Kids Around the World is asking us to raise funds first within our organizations, then participate in a food pack day. We will be hosting food pack days for Kids Around the World in our gym on Oct 2 and 3, where all of our organizations can come together and pack meals.
