Hey everybody - I'm really excited to participate in the Disabled Sports Ability Challenge again this year. Breaking my neck mountain biking in 2005 changed every aspect of my life. One of the biggest changes was having a severe limitation on my ability to get outside, get fit, and have fun. I began sit skiing with Disabled Sports in 2010 so that I'd be able to get back out on the mountain and ski with Aler. Learning to sit ski was one of the most challenging things I have ever done, and after a lot of challenging days, I'm out riding Alpine Meadows with Aler and can even keep up with him most of the time.
The Disabled Sports organization is truly amazing and I have seen so many people's lives improved through getting out on the mountain and skiing. The people that use the program would not be able to get out there without the support of Disabled Sports and their selfless and committed staff and volunteers.
I ask you to join me in giving children with disabilities, adults with extreme challenges and wounded warriors disabled in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan a way to get out on the mountain, renew their self confidence, get fit, and inspire others to do the same.
