The proceeds from this event support the overall mission of the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) a local, non-profit group committed to fighting breast cancer by directing 100% of gross fundraising dollars directly to breast cancer research.   Since 2006, TBBCF has awarded grants totaling over $2.7 million dollars for breast cancer research.

The Foundation's name was chosen to honor the life and fighting spirit of Terri Brodeur, a local Old Saybrook mother of three young children and victim of breast cancer.  The Foundation was established in 2006 by two friends, Norma Logan (1958-2006) and Sandy Maniscalco, who realized the need for a new kind of fundraising organization.  After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Terri succumbed to the disease in 2005, as did Norma six months later.
