A Mile for Maddie is a 1.2 mile fundraising walk being held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 to benefit The Maddie James Foundation.

The Foundation was created in honor of a five year-old California girl who passed away due to an inoperable brain tumor, but whose love of the ocean and its many creatures will live forever. It is committed to supporting ocean-minded educational programs for children of all backgrounds and to the construction and ongoing operation of The Maddie James Seaside Learning Center (scheduled to break ground in 2012) at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California.  Maddie and I used to share a desk together in Kindergarten. I miss her smile and her superwoman glasses.

I have set a personal goal of raising the amount noted above to not only support this very worthy cause, but to also earn a ticket to a private dinner with Celebrity Chair and world renowned marine life artist, Wyland.
