Ashley Runs for Inner City Kids...

Since meeting Jason Harper in 2008, I have been moved to Run for a Reason. 

Running a marathon was something I had always had on my bucket list.  But I often hoped that the bucket would come first. :-)  Although I strangely loved the idea of early morning workouts, sore muscles and mental exhaustion, the physical act of running sounded HORRIBLE!!

I am now training for my third marathon.  You might wonder how the heck Harper has gotten me to come back year after year?  I've wonder that myself...  But then I step back on the campus of Oak Ridge Elementary and it all becomes clear.

The kids.  The elementary school kids at Oak Ridge have become a huge part of my life.  I often wake up before 5am to train to run on behalf of those little munchkins.  It's been so fun, yet hearbreaking at times walking life out with them.

Be Change has partnered with local organizations such as Sacramento Food Bank, Dr. Birch, Fleet Feet, the Lens Crafters, The Running Zone, etc to help provided thousands of  pounds of food, Dr visits, pairs of glasses, jackets and the list could go on and on.

Any funds donated go directly to Be Change which uses the funds to directly impact the children, their families and the community.  Your donation can make a huge difference in a child's life.  Consider giving towards a new backpack, coat or Dr. visit.

50 Cents a Mile= $13.10 will supply a child a backpack for the school year

$1 a Mile= $26.20 will supply a child in the Be Change Running Club a pair of running shoes/shorts

$1.50 a Mile= $39.30 will supply a child a warm jacket for the winner.

$2 per Mile= $56.40 will get the child a doctor’s visit that exceeds a free clinic.

Every dime....100% of what is raised goes to reaching the children's health, dental, nutritional, academic, and emotional care.

All gifts are 100% tax deductible and will be receipted by January 31, 2011 for the 2010 fiscal year. The receipt is issued by our non-profit, Sacramento Valley Region Care Coalition.
