Y-Malawi? - Catalysts Trip 2014

Malawi is a tiny country in Africa, and one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. A devastating famine from 2002 - 2005 killed hundreds of thousands of villagers. In what must be descirbed as "a total God thing", a group of Malawian organizations united together with a long-term commitment to bring the most tangible love of God and best-practices for community transformation to one of the hardest hit regions. Church members from our church and other USA churches from many denominations have put aisde their differences and united to come-alongside these organizations and the amazing unity and action that was happening. This movement is "Y-Malawi?" 

We will be traveling as a team to be a next generation of servant-leaders to come-alongside these front-line organizations in the Nkhoma/Chilenje valley of Malawi. We will make ourselves available to God, immerse ourselves into what He is doing there, listen to those we are serving and those we are serving with. We will come back and serve more as catalysts of this movement, helping our own church engage more, and helping other people, churches, schools, and businesses engage with the transformation that has started in this valley. We hope to see it all spread both in Malawi and other parts of Africa, and also here in the USA with a new wave of excitement and commitment to love, serve, and share! 

This is all so big that it is easy to see that nothing can really happen without God doing what only He can do! These great things and I and our whole team really need your prayers!  Will you consider praying for these things as we prepare, go, return, and then seek to respond in the year following our trip?

Our top cost is the airfare, then the next biggest is a wonderful chunk we will give to support the front-line Malawi organizations doing the work and hosting us while we are there. All in, each person on the team needs to gather $3,500 to make this all happen. I am personally investing, and going to Malawi, and serving for the next year, and would love any help you want to give. No pressure, just an opportunity, I really believe God is leading here and He will work this out!

Your fianancial support is a charitable gift to Coast Hills Church for this trip. Although funds will be raised and accounted for individually, all funds raised by individual team members will be treated as team funds. If a person raises more than enough to cover his/her individual cost for the trip, the balance of the funds designated for him/her will go to offset any shortages incurred by other team members, and/or given to support the front-line Malawi ministries that we are partnering with. The same application of funds applies if a person for some reason does not go on the trip in the end. (Contributions are not refunded to donors, but will go to support the trip and the Malawi ministries we partner with.)
