The number of lives lost in Nepal's first quake has heartbreakingly surpassed 8000 in casualties and many still remain missing. The more recent quake left
as many as 66 people from Nepal, India and Chinese Tibet dead and over 1100 people injured. Both estimates are expected to climb as hard-hit rural villages contact officials.The quake has caused landslides, and residents are already worried and preparing for the upcoming monsoon season from June to September, which in all likelihood could bring more.
A second shocking 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck 52 miles (83km) east of Kathmandu, close to Mount Everest, leaving many dead and missing in the rubble. The second quake was one-fifth as powerful as the magnitude-7.8 that struck last month in Nepal.
Families are sleeping in tents, rubble and in pipes outside as they are terrified that there may be aftershocks causing more loss of life. Aid is needed to help these poor people, and Duhamel's run/walk will help provide some of the aid these desperate people need.
