The Run to Fight Children’s Cancer is an annual community event that debuted in October of 2011. After identifying a need for childhood cancer awareness, the run/walk was created to bring the Phoenix community together and help fight this terrible disease. Hosted by Grand Canyon University, the run brings over 4,000 runners and spectators to the GCU campus for a day of running, walking and family friendly activities.
After the success of the inaugural run, a spring edition was held in March 2012, followed by the more recent spring run in March 2013. Since its inception, the Run to Fight Children’s Cancer has raised $174,000. Proceeds from the race directly benefit nonprofit organizations that help children and families dealing with cancer. The run has now expanded to San Diego and will benefit the Ronan Thompson Foundation as well as Max’s Ring of Fire.
